#3 of 6 hotels in Mai Khao by Axel's take. Mai Khao is #12 of 12 places to stay in Phuket. The best hotels in Mai Khao, ranked · Where to stay in Phuket

Axel's take: 8.9/10

Excellent for spacious family holidays, less convincing for secluded beachfront luxury. A luxury vacation-club resort with apartment-style suites and pool villas, set back from the beach, scored for what it is.

This luxury vacation-club resort makes a strong case for families who want space and plenty to do. Suites and pool villas have kitchens and laundry facilities, making longer stays practical. Recent Tripadvisor, Expedia and Agoda guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, generous accommodation, breakfast variety and children's activities. Cleanliness is another consistent strength. We'd choose it for a relaxed, resort-focused family holiday rather than sightseeing every day.

The trade-offs are location and atmosphere: Mai Khao Beach is a short walk away, not directly outside, and Phuket's main attractions require longer drives. The communal pool can be lively, so request accommodation away from it if quiet matters. Guests also report vacation-club sales approaches; check whether your booking requires a presentation. Nearby Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas lists south-side refurbishment through November 15, 2026; ask about any impact. Couples seeking uninterrupted quiet should look elsewhere.

Best for: Families with children; Longer stays with self-catering; Groups wanting spacious pool villas
Watch out for: Set back from the beach and far from main attractions; Lively communal pool and vacation-club sales approaches; Nearby sister-property refurbishment through November 15, 2026
Location: Near Turtle Village and roughly 20 minutes from the airport; less convenient for regular sightseeing.
Rooms: Generous suites and pool villas with kitchens and laundry facilities; request distance from the communal pool for quiet.
Cleanliness: Consistently strong feedback across major booking and review sites.
Service: Warm, attentive staff are a recurring highlight, particularly for families.
Amenities: Kids' club, children's pool, family activities, gym and well-liked breakfast; private pools depend on accommodation type.
Fees and surprises: Airport transfers cost extra; check presentation requirements and possible effects of refurbishment at nearby Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas.
