Handy location and helpful staff, but maintenance makes this a qualified pick. a basic 3-star city hotel in El Cangrejo, formerly a Hampton, scored for what it is.

The District is a basic 3-star city hotel in El Cangrejo, formerly a Hampton and now listed by IHG—not the waterfront Hilton linked in the catalog. We'd consider it for a short, location-first stay rather than dependable chain-hotel polish. Restaurants and metro stations are within walking distance, breakfast and parking are included, and there's a rooftop outdoor pool. Helpful staff are its most consistent strength across Expedia and Trip.com reviews.

The catch is uneven upkeep. Recent guests repeatedly describe worn furnishings, musty corridors and air-conditioning problems, alongside others reporting clean, comfortable rooms. Several Expedia guests also flag broken gym equipment, while breakfast draws recurring complaints about limited choice. Booking.com's small review sample is notably less positive than Expedia's. We'd skip it if reliable room condition or a working gym matters more than location; confirm those details before booking.

• Best for: location-first city explorers; short stays near restaurants and transit

• Watch out for: uneven maintenance and musty smells; reported air-conditioning and gym-equipment problems; limited breakfast variety

• Location: Walkable El Cangrejo base near restaurants and metro stations; Casco Viejo requires a ride.

• Rooms: Some guests find rooms comfortable, but worn furniture and unreliable air conditioning recur.

• Cleanliness: Mixed: clean-room praise sits alongside repeated complaints about musty smells and inconsistent cleaning.

• Service: Helpful, welcoming staff attract more consistent praise than the facilities.

• Amenities: Outdoor rooftop pool, included breakfast and parking; guests repeatedly report broken gym equipment.

• Fees and surprises: Now listed by IHG, not Hampton; confirm deposit terms, which differ between booking sites.
