Axel's take: 7.8/10

Strong facilities and convention convenience, but aging rooms temper the appeal. An upscale, full-service business hotel opposite Atlapa Convention Center, scored for what it is.

Sheraton Grand Panama is an upscale business hotel opposite Atlapa Convention Center, and we'd choose it for convention convenience and substantial leisure facilities rather than polished luxury. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the comfortable beds, helpful staff and generous breakfast buffet. The outdoor pool, large gym, tennis courts and several dining options make it an easy place to spend downtime between meetings.

The catch is uneven room condition: recent Tripadvisor and Trip.com reviews describe dated fittings, musty smells and occasional plumbing problems, despite broadly positive cleanliness ratings. Service recovery also gets mixed reports. Mundo Social reported the launch of the hotel's “Reimagina” renovation in September 2026, covering rooms, public spaces and amenities; confirm work schedules and facility access before booking. We'd skip it for a characterful, walk-everywhere sightseeing stay or if consistently fresh interiors matter more than facilities.

• Best for: Atlapa convention attendees; Business travelers who use the gym; Travelers wanting extensive on-site facilities

• Watch out for: Dated rooms and occasional musty smells; Uneven handling of maintenance problems; Reimagina renovation timing needs confirmation

• Location: Opposite Atlapa in San Francisco; convenient for meetings, less compelling for sightseeing on foot.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds, but recurring reports of aging fittings, mustiness and plumbing faults.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive overall, with some recent housekeeping and damp-smell complaints.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff earn frequent praise; resolving problems is less consistent.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, substantial gym, tennis courts, spa, casino and multiple dining options.

• Fees and surprises: Marriott lists free self-parking and valet; breakfast depends on the booking, pets incur fees, and no airport shuttle is provided.
