A comfortable city base with strong service, but rooms could use refreshing. a practical 4-star business hotel in El Cangrejo, scored for what it is.

Novotel Panama City is a practical 4-star business hotel in El Cangrejo, and a strong pick for comfort and convenience rather than luxury. Tripadvisor, Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise spacious rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff, with cleanliness earning particularly strong feedback on Expedia. Nearby restaurants and Vía Argentina metro make it a useful base for exploring, while free parking adds convenience for drivers.

The trade-offs are aging furniture, dim room lighting and occasional noise from neighboring rooms or the street. Recent Accor and Trip.com reviews suggest the interiors need refreshing, even though most guests remain positive overall. There’s a gym, restaurant and generally well-liked breakfast, but no pool; check whether breakfast is included. We'd skip it for a pool-focused holiday or if staying within Casco Viejo is the priority.

• Best for: business travelers; metro-minded city explorers; drivers wanting free parking

• Watch out for: aging furnishings and dim lighting; occasional room and street noise; no swimming pool

• Location: El Cangrejo restaurants and Vía Argentina metro are walkable; Casco Viejo requires transport.

• Rooms: Spacious and comfortable overall, but furnishings and lighting draw recurring criticism.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, including consistently positive recent Expedia reviews.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength across several sites.

• Amenities: Gym, restaurant, bar and free Wi-Fi; no pool.

• Fees and surprises: Self-parking is free; breakfast may cost extra depending on the booking.
