Axel's take: 7.1/10

Go for Casco Viejo convenience and character, not a guaranteed quiet night. A small, mid-range boutique hotel at the entrance to Casco Viejo, scored for what it is.

Casa Panamá is a small, mid-range boutique hotel at the entrance to Casco Viejo, better for exploring and going out than a polished four-star escape. Its exposed-stone, industrial-style interiors have character, and restaurants, historic sights and the waterfront are easy to reach on foot. Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, cleanliness and effective air-conditioning. We'd consider it for a short, location-first stay.

The main compromise is sleep: Booking.com, Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly report rooftop music and street noise, including complaints in summer 2026. Some rooms are small or dark, and maintenance reports include leaks and unreliable bathroom fixtures. The rooftop restaurant and small pool add appeal, but this isn't a resort-style setup. We'd skip it for light sleepers, early starts or anyone expecting consistently upscale comfort.

• Best for: Nightlife-minded travelers; Short Casco Viejo stays; Sightseers exploring on foot

• Watch out for: Late rooftop music and street noise; Small or dark rooms; Uneven room maintenance

• Location: At Casco Viejo's entrance, convenient for walking to historic sights, restaurants and the waterfront.

• Rooms: Characterful interiors and well-reviewed air-conditioning; size, daylight and maintenance vary.

• Cleanliness: Generally a strength in aggregate ratings, despite occasional housekeeping complaints.

• Service: Frequently praised as friendly and helpful, though problem handling is not uniformly consistent.

• Amenities: Rooftop restaurant and small pool; confirm pool access and breakfast arrangements before booking.

• Fees and surprises: Parking, airport transfers and pets carry extra charges; some balcony access is shared.
