Axel's take: 7.8/10

Helpful staff and metro convenience make up for some noticeably tired rooms. An older 4-star business hotel in Panama City's financial district, scored for what it is.

This older 4-star business hotel is a good practical base, rather than a polished city escape. Its financial-district location puts restaurants and Iglesia del Carmen metro within easy walking distance. Expedia and Booking.com guests consistently praise the staff, and breakfast earns plenty of positive mentions. We'd consider it for a work trip or sightseeing stay where convenience matters more than contemporary design.

The reservations are about condition and quiet: recent guests across several sites describe dated bathrooms, musty smells in some rooms and corridors, and nighttime street noise. Overall cleanliness ratings remain strong, so this isn't a uniformly poor housekeeping story. The outdoor pool is small, and Expedia lists the bar/lounge as closed Sunday through Thursday. We'd skip it for a pool-focused break, light sleepers, or anyone sensitive to damp odors.

• Best for: Business travelers prioritizing location; Sightseers using the metro; Travelers who value helpful staff over modern decor

• Watch out for: Recurring musty-smell reports; Street noise and dated bathrooms; Limited bar/lounge opening days

• Location: Central financial-district setting, roughly three minutes' walk from Iglesia del Carmen metro.

• Rooms: Guests often appreciate the space and comfort, but dated bathrooms and uneven maintenance recur.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall guest ratings, tempered by repeated reports of damp odors in rooms and corridors.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are the most consistent strength across review sites.

• Amenities: Small outdoor pool, gym, restaurant and Wi-Fi; no indoor pool confirmed by IHG.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast inclusion depends on the booking; valet costs extra, and Expedia lists bar closures Sunday–Thursday.
