Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong downtown choice for apartment comforts, spotless suites and helpful staff. an upscale apartment hotel near Parliament Hill, scored for what it is.

reStays is an upscale apartment hotel near Parliament Hill, and we'd pick it for travelers who want more independence than a conventional hotel provides. Full kitchens and in-suite laundry make longer visits practical, while recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests consistently praise cleanliness, comfortable beds and helpful staff. The walkable location works equally well for sightseeing and downtown business, and the gym, saunas and Parliament-facing SkyLounge add useful extras.

The trade-off is that apartment-style hospitality doesn't mean full-service hotel convenience: there's no on-site restaurant, parking costs extra, and the published terms list stay-over cleaning as a paid request. Some guests also mention street noise and limited cooking utensils. We'd confirm housekeeping arrangements and request an inward-facing suite if quiet matters. Skip it if daily servicing and in-house dining are priorities.

• Best for: families wanting apartment space; longer stays with cooking and laundry; car-free sightseeing and business trips

• Watch out for: street noise in some outward-facing suites; paid parking and housekeeping arrangements; no on-site restaurant

• Location: Central and walkable, close to Parliament Hill, Sparks Street and Parliament light-rail station.

• Rooms: Modern suites with kitchens and laundry; some guests find cooking equipment limited.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent Tripadvisor, Expedia and Booking.com-derived reviews.

• Service: Front-desk helpfulness earns strong praise; confirm stay-over cleaning before arrival.

• Amenities: Gym, dry saunas, games room, theatre and SkyLounge; no on-site restaurant.

• Fees and surprises: Paid underground parking has a 6-foot-4 height limit; a guest-name credit card and security hold are required.
