#5 of 9 hotels in Promenade des Anglais & Carré d'Or by Axel's take. Promenade des Anglais & Carré d'Or is #2 of 6 places to stay in Nice. The best hotels in Promenade des Anglais & Carré d'Or, ranked · Where to stay in Nice

Axel's take: 8.5/10

A friendly central base that delivers on location, but not on room size. a compact, casual 4-star in central Nice near the beach, scored for what it is.

The Deck is a compact, casual 4-star in central Nice, a few minutes’ walk from the beach, with restaurants and shopping close by. It’s a strong pick for travelers who prioritize exploring over hotel facilities. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff and clean, comfortable rooms. Complimentary lobby coffee, beach towels and a sociable patio with billiards add useful extras.

The main compromise is space: the hotel lists entry-level Double Cabins at just 10 square meters, and even Superior rooms are small. Some guests also mention worn furnishings, so expect cheerful practicality rather than polished luxury. Guests reported entrance scaffolding in April 2026 and morning construction noise in May; whether that work continues is unconfirmed, so check before booking. We’d skip it if generous rooms or a full-service luxury experience matter most.

  • Best for: couples on short city breaks; beachgoers who want a central base; travelers exploring Nice on foot

  • Watch out for: very small entry-level rooms; some furnishings show wear; confirm status of reported construction

  • Location: Central and highly walkable, a few minutes from the Promenade des Anglais, restaurants and shops.

  • Rooms: Air-conditioned and generally comfortable; Double Cabins start at 10 square meters, Superior rooms at 12.

  • Cleanliness: Broadly positive across sites, with recent guests repeatedly describing clean, well-kept rooms.

  • Service: The standout strength: warm reception staff and helpful local recommendations recur across reviews.

  • Amenities: Breakfast buffet, bar, patio, billiards, free Wi-Fi and loan beach towels; more city base than resort.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast may cost extra; small pets incur a supplement, parking is off-site, and 2026 construction reports warrant checking.
