#5 of 9 hotels in Gare Thiers & Musiciens by Axel's take. Gare Thiers & Musiciens is #5 of 6 places to stay in Nice. The best hotels in Gare Thiers & Musiciens, ranked · Where to stay in Nice

Axel's take: 8.2/10

A friendly, good-value rail base, provided you can live with compact rooms. a design-minded 3-star near Nice-Ville station, scored for what it is.

So’Co is a design-minded 3-star near Nice-Ville station, and it's a strong pick for exploring the Riviera by train. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, comfortable beds and breakfast; Booking.com’s overall feedback broadly agrees. The vintage-industrial styling gives it more personality than a basic station hotel, while the communal lounge and complimentary hot drinks are useful extras.

The main compromise is space: the hotel lists doubles at just 13–16 square meters, and guests regularly describe tight rooms and bathrooms. Some Tripadvisor and Trip.com guests also mention outside noise and minor maintenance issues, although these don't dominate the overall feedback. Allow roughly 15–20 minutes to walk to the seafront. We'd choose it for a practical city break, not generous rooms or a beach-on-the-doorstep stay.

  • Best for: Riviera day trips by train; Value-conscious couples; Solo city breaks

  • Watch out for: Compact rooms and bathrooms; Outside noise in some rooms; Not a beachfront location

  • Location: A few minutes from Nice-Ville station; roughly 15–20 minutes on foot to the seafront.

  • Rooms: Air-conditioned doubles measure 13–16 square meters; comfortable beds earn praise, but some fittings show wear.

  • Cleanliness: Generally positive feedback, with occasional bathroom-detail and dust complaints rather than a dominant pattern.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength across Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia.

  • Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, communal lounge, self-service hot drinks, books, board games and a breakfast buffet.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast costs extra unless included; pets incur a nightly supplement, and city tax is additional.
