#6 of 6 hotels in Gigiri by Axel's take. Gigiri is #6 of 8 places to stay in Nairobi. The best hotels in Gigiri, ranked · Where to stay in Nairobi

Axel's take: 8.0/10

A welcoming Gigiri base whose staff outshine its uneven room facilities. A simple 3-star guesthouse with a pool in Nairobi’s diplomatic district, scored for what it is.

Villa Leone is a simple 3-star guesthouse in Gigiri, best suited to UN meetings and embassy business rather than downtown sightseeing. We'd pick it for the leafy grounds, outdoor pool and personal service, not boutique-hotel polish. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the helpful staff and cleanliness; recent reviews also describe comfortable rooms and enjoyable breakfasts. It looks like good value for travelers whose plans center on this part of Nairobi.

The trade-off is inconsistent room upkeep. Several guests mention weak water pressure or unreliable hot showers, while Wi-Fi complaints matter if you're working remotely. Furnishings can feel dated, and toiletries aren't consistently supplied. One November 2025 guest reported renovations; their current status is unconfirmed. Ask about ongoing work and your exact room before booking. We'd skip it if dependable connectivity and uniformly modern facilities are priorities.

  • Best for: UN and embassy visitors; Travelers who prefer a quiet guesthouse; Value-minded business travelers

  • Watch out for: Inconsistent hot water and shower pressure; Patchy Wi-Fi; Confirm renovation status before booking

  • Location: Handy for Gigiri’s UN complex and embassies; less convenient for downtown sightseeing.

  • Rooms: Generally comfortable but uneven in size, furnishings and maintenance; confirm the room category.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength across guest feedback, including Booking.com’s strong cleanliness rating.

  • Service: Warm, helpful staff are the clearest recurring positive across review sites.

  • Amenities: Outdoor pool, gardens and restaurant; Expedia lists breakfast and self-parking as included.

  • Fees and surprises: Airport transfers cost extra; toiletries may be limited, and November 2025 renovation reports remain unverified.
