#8 of 9 hotels in Karen by Axel's take. Karen is #5 of 8 places to stay in Nairobi. The best hotels in Karen, ranked · Where to stay in Nairobi
Axel's take: 6.7/10
Better for family activities than a dependable overnight stay. a simple 3-star hotel within a family recreation complex in Karen, scored for what it is.
Stedmak is a simple 3-star hotel wrapped around a family recreation complex in Karen. We'd consider it for an activity-led break rather than choose it primarily for the rooms. Gardens, swimming, children's play areas and floating restaurants are the draw, and Tripadvisor visitors praise the setting and individual staff members. Expedia lists breakfast and parking as included, useful extras for a straightforward stay.
The accommodation evidence is much thinner than the day-visitor feedback. Expedia's two verified stays average just 4/10; its September 2025 reviewer liked the staff and amenities but found the room small. Restaurant reports range from attentive service to lengthy waits, while a June 2025 Tripadvisor visitor flagged weak Wi-Fi. Confirm room size, working activities and any separate charges before booking. We'd skip it for a work trip requiring reliable connectivity or if dependable room comfort is the priority.
-
Best for: families prioritizing on-site activities; short leisure stays around Karen
-
Watch out for: limited, weak overnight-review evidence; variable restaurant service; reported Wi-Fi problems

-

-

-
Service: Named staff receive warm praise, but restaurant feedback includes repeated long waits.
-
Amenities: Pools, gardens, children's activities and floating restaurants; confirm which activities are operating.
-
Fees and surprises: Expedia lists breakfast and self-parking as included; airport transfers and childcare cost extra. The official website could not be accessed.
