Axel's take: 9.1/10

Spacious, well-kept apartments and genuinely helpful staff make this a strong longer-stay choice. An upscale 4-star serviced-apartment hotel in Kilimani, scored for what it is.

Somerset Westview Nairobi is an upscale serviced-apartment hotel in Kilimani, and we'd put it high on the list for families and longer business stays. Separate living areas and proper kitchens make the suites more useful than standard hotel rooms. Booking.com and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the cleanliness, generous space and helpful staff; Expedia's strong guest feedback backs that up. The pool, gym, restaurant and Jabu rooftop bar add enough hotel comforts without sacrificing apartment independence.

The main trade-off is location: choose it for a Kilimani base, not a stay in the city centre. Check whether breakfast is included, and budget separately for airport transfers. Restaurant service attracts an occasional complaint, but that is not the dominant story. We'd skip it if being downtown matters more than space and self-catering.

  • Best for: Families wanting separate bedrooms; Longer business stays; Travelers who like self-catering

  • Watch out for: Outside the city centre; Breakfast inclusion varies by booking; Airport transfers cost extra

  • Location: Kilimani setting near local shopping and dining, rather than a downtown address.

  • Rooms: Spacious suites with separate living areas and fully equipped kitchens; two-bedroom options suit families.

  • Cleanliness: Consistently strong praise across Booking.com, Tripadvisor and Expedia.

  • Service: Helpful reception, security and housekeeping stand out; occasional restaurant-service criticism.

  • Amenities: Outdoor pool, gym, restaurant, rooftop bar, family facilities and free on-site parking.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast may be extra; airport transfers and extra beds carry additional charges.
