A strong Kilimani base, with welcoming staff and useful leisure facilities. a full-service 4-star business hotel in Kilimani, scored for what it is.

Royal Canaan is a full-service 4-star business hotel in Kilimani, and we'd put it on the shortlist for a comfortable Nairobi stay near Yaya Centre. Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise welcoming staff, clean rooms and comfortable beds; breakfast also earns regular compliments. The gym, outdoor pool and spa give it useful downtime options beyond its meeting facilities. It's a strong pick for travelers who want restaurants and shopping nearby without staying in the central business district.

Choose it for practical comfort rather than a resort-style escape. Standard rooms warrant checking for space, especially if you need to work extensively, and Expedia lists pool access ending in the early evening. Airport transfers cost extra, and breakfast inclusion depends on your booking. We'd skip it if expansive grounds or late-night swimming are priorities.

• Best for: business travelers and conference guests; couples wanting a Kilimani base; travelers who value a gym and spa

• Watch out for: check room size and workspace; pool access ends in the early evening; airport transfers cost extra

• Location: Kilimani location near Yaya Centre, with restaurants and shops within walking distance.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds draw praise; check the chosen category's size and workspace before booking.

• Cleanliness: Generally strong across sites, with recent guests repeatedly describing clean, well-maintained rooms.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are the most consistent strength across guest-review sources.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, well-reviewed gym, spa, restaurant, bar and meeting facilities; pool hours are limited.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is listed as free; airport transfers and some early or late check-ins attract charges; verify breakfast inclusion.
