#6 of 9 hotels in Karen by Axel's take. Karen is #5 of 8 places to stay in Nairobi. The best hotels in Karen, ranked · Where to stay in Nairobi
Axel's take: 7.2/10
A characterful Karen base, but current room evidence is thin. a simple, independent guesthouse in residential Karen, scored for what it is.
Rock House is a simple, independent guesthouse in residential Karen, with unusual rock-themed architecture and a garden pool. We'd consider it for a low-key stay focused on Karen rather than central Nairobi. Older Tripadvisor and Expedia guests praise friendly staff and clean, comfortable rooms; a May 2025 Google review also describes the rooms warmly. Breakfast and parking are listed as included.
The caveat is limited recent overnight feedback: much of the newer commentary concerns swimming or events, not accommodation. Menu variety draws some criticism, and one detailed visitor report describes loud pool crowds and stretched service during a holiday period. Ask about events if quiet matters. Expedia says arrivals require advance coordination, especially after 6 p.m. The supplied official website currently displays unrelated content, so confirm facilities and arrangements through your booking channel. We'd skip it for polished service or city-centre convenience.
-
