#1 of 6 hotels in Gigiri by Axel's take. Gigiri is #6 of 8 places to stay in Nairobi. The best hotels in Gigiri, ranked · Where to stay in Nairobi

Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong luxury pick for comfort and personal service, less suited to walking everywhere. A boutique-style 5-star Hilton hotel beside Karura Forest, scored for what it is.

Kwetu is a boutique-style 5-star in Hilton’s Curio Collection, with a leafy setting beside Karura Forest rather than a downtown address. We’d pick it for a relaxed Nairobi stay or a comfortable stop around a safari. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise spacious, well-kept rooms, thoughtful housekeeping and genuinely helpful staff; Booking.com’s particularly strong cleanliness and comfort scores reinforce that picture. An outdoor pool, gym and rooftop dining make staying on-site appealing.

The trade-off is convenience: expect to use taxis for most outings. Restaurant service, especially at Meko, draws repeated complaints about long waits despite generally positive food reviews. Some bathroom layouts also offer limited privacy. A September 2026 guest reported morning construction noise, acknowledged by management; confirm whether work continues before booking. We’d skip it if walkability or reliably brisk dining matters most.

  • Best for: Pre- and post-safari stays; Couples seeking a quieter base; Travelers who enjoy dining on-site

  • Watch out for: Taxis needed for most outings; Slow restaurant service; Confirm status of recently reported construction

  • Location: Leafy Kitisuru setting beside Karura Forest, away from downtown and central Westlands.

  • Rooms: Spacious, comfortable and attractively finished; check bathroom privacy when sharing.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength across guest reviews and Booking.com category ratings.

  • Service: Warm, personal attention earns strong praise, but restaurant pacing is less consistent.

  • Amenities: Outdoor pool, fitness center, several dining venues, rooftop dining and free Wi-Fi.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking is complimentary; check breakfast inclusion and whether September’s reported construction has finished.
