#9 of 9 hotels in Westlands by Axel's take. Westlands is #2 of 8 places to stay in Nairobi. The best hotels in Westlands, ranked · Where to stay in Nairobi

Axel's take: 7.7/10

A practical Westlands base with lovely gardens, but rooms need more consistent upkeep. an older mid-range garden hotel in Westlands, scored for what it is.

Jacaranda is an older mid-range garden hotel whose strongest assets are its Westlands location and generous outdoor space. We'd pick it for convenient access to Sarit Centre, a proper gym and a greener setting than many city hotels. Booking.com and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff and clean, comfortable rooms; the pool and gardens give it appeal beyond a straightforward business stopover.

The compromise is age and uneven maintenance. Guests across sites describe tired interiors and recurring shower problems, particularly weak pressure or unreliable hot water. Air-conditioning listings conflict with guest reports, so confirm your room's cooling rather than assuming. Pool heating also receives mixed reports. It's a good fit for travelers who prioritize location and facilities over modern finishes; we'd skip it if dependable bathroom performance or contemporary rooms are essential.

  • Best for: business travelers visiting Westlands; travelers who value gardens and a gym; shopping near Sarit Centre

  • Watch out for: inconsistent hot water and shower pressure; dated rooms; confirm air conditioning; no elevator

  • Location: Convenient Westlands position beside Sarit Centre, with Westgate also within walking distance.

  • Rooms: Generally comfortable but dated; guest reports contradict listings that promise air conditioning.

  • Cleanliness: Mostly positive across sources, with cleanliness stronger than the property's overall condition.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength, though problem handling is not uniformly reliable.

  • Amenities: Outdoor pool, gardens, gym, spa and dining; reports disagree on reliable pool heating.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking is listed as free; airport transfers cost extra, and breakfast inclusion depends on the booking.
