Axel's take: 6.3/10

Central convenience and breakfast, but noise and inconsistent upkeep make this a cautious pick. a budget 3-star in downtown Medellín with a short-stay feel, scored for what it is.

Hotel Gallery is a budget 3-star in downtown Medellín with a short-stay feel rather than a polished boutique-hotel experience. Its strongest case is practical: access to central sights and transit, included breakfast, and a restaurant that earns genuine praise. Recent Expedia guests also describe helpful receptionists and clean, comfortable rooms. We'd consider it for a brief, budget-minded visit if staying downtown matters most.

The compromises are substantial. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly describe traffic noise, while Expedia and Despegar reviews mention cigarette smells despite the nonsmoking policy. Room upkeep and cleanliness are uneven, with recurring complaints about worn towels and unreliable hot water alongside positive reports. Several recent guests also report reservation problems, and some feel uncomfortable around the hotel after dark. We'd skip it for light sleepers, family holidays, or anyone expecting consistently dependable basics.

• Best for: experienced downtown travelers; brief, budget-minded stays

• Watch out for: traffic noise and cigarette smells; uneven room upkeep and hot water; reservation problems and nighttime surroundings

• Location: Central La Candelaria location with transit access; several guests advise caution outside after dark.

• Rooms: Individually decorated, but noise insulation and maintenance draw repeated criticism.

• Cleanliness: Many guests praise clean rooms, but worn towels and some serious housekeeping complaints prevent a dependable verdict.

• Service: Helpful receptionists earn praise, though recent reports include missing reservations and poor complaint handling.

• Amenities: Breakfast, restaurant, bar, Wi-Fi and elevator are listed; free parking is limited.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a deposit and early-check-in charge; airport transfers cost extra. Reconfirm your reservation before arrival.
