La Mamounia is a historic five-star palace hotel beside the medina, and a strong pick for travelers who want Moroccan craftsmanship with full resort facilities. Its elaborate interiors, extensive gardens, pools and hammam are the main draw—not just its famous name. Recent Expedia and Trip.com guests overwhelmingly praise the surroundings, cleanliness and warm staff. We'd choose it for a celebratory stay combining sightseeing with proper time at the hotel.

The caveat is consistency at this luxury level. Tripadvisor and Expedia reviews include recurring frustrations with reception, follow-through and problem handling, despite abundant praise for individual staff. Some rooms and bathrooms also feel small for the price. Restaurants attract outside visitors, so reserve ahead, and check whether breakfast is included.
