Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong medina choice for personal service and Moroccan character, not resort-style facilities. An upscale collection of six traditional Moroccan guesthouses in the medina, scored for what it is.

Angsana is an upscale collection of six restored riads, not one conventional four-star hotel. We'd choose it for Moroccan architecture, intimate courtyards and unusually personal service. Recent Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the staff, housekeeping and generous breakfasts. The location makes exploring the medina on foot easy, while many guests describe the houses themselves as peaceful.

The important catch is that rooms and facilities differ between houses: confirm your exact riad, pool access and any walk to breakfast before booking. The pools are mostly for dipping, and historic staircases plus no elevators make this a poor fit for step-free travel. Management also confirmed external alley building work following a September 2026 complaint; ask whether your approach is still affected. We'd skip it if you want a large pool or everything under one roof.

• Best for: Couples seeking a traditional riad stay; Medina sightseeing on foot; Travelers who value personal service

• Watch out for: Different facilities across six houses; Historic stairs and no elevators; Recent external alley construction; check current status

• Location: Walkable medina setting near Bahia Palace; arrange a staff-assisted arrival from the vehicle drop-off.

• Rooms: Individually decorated heritage rooms and suites; confirm the specific house and room rather than relying on collection-wide photos.

• Cleanliness: Strong praise across review sites, including recent reports of spotless rooms and attentive housekeeping.

• Service: The standout strength: warm staff repeatedly praised for transfers, directions and thoughtful assistance.

• Amenities: Spa and hammam, Moroccan restaurant, rooftop terraces and plunge pools in some riads—not a resort-sized pool setup.

• Fees and surprises: City tax applies; airport transfers, nearby public parking and activities cost extra; external alley works were recently confirmed.
