#6 of 8 hotels in Agdal by Axel's take. Agdal is #7 of 8 places to stay in Marrakech. The best hotels in Agdal, ranked · Where to stay in Marrakech

Axel's take: 6.6/10

Generous space and big pools, but inconsistent upkeep falls short of five-star expectations. a large, aging five-star resort and conference hotel in Agdal, scored for what it is.

Grand Mogador Agdal is a sprawling five-star resort and conference hotel outside the medina, better suited to pool time than polished luxury. Spacious rooms, large outdoor pools and Moroccan-style common areas are its strongest draws. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise welcoming staff, and some like the breakfast spread. We'd consider it for travelers who prioritize space over immaculate finishes.

The catch is inconsistent upkeep: Tripadvisor and Expedia guests describe tired rooms, worn corridor carpets and bathroom maintenance problems, while service ranges from helpful to unresponsive. Cleanliness feedback is mixed rather than uniformly poor. The hotel's own website currently marks massage rooms and hammams temporarily closed, despite booking sites advertising spa treatments. It also serves no alcohol. We'd skip it for a spa-led escape, dependable five-star service or sightseeing mainly on foot.

  • Best for: travelers prioritizing spacious rooms; pool-focused breaks; conference attendees

  • Watch out for: dated interiors and uneven maintenance; massage rooms and hammams listed temporarily closed; taxi trips to the medina

  • Location: Agdal tourist zone near Al Mazar Mall; expect transport rather than doorstep access to the medina.

  • Rooms: Generously sized, often with balconies, but recurring reports of tired furnishings and bathroom defects.

  • Cleanliness: Many guests find rooms clean, but housekeeping and corridor condition receive mixed feedback.

  • Service: Warm staff earn frequent praise; responsiveness and problem handling are less consistent.

  • Amenities: Large outdoor pools are the draw; the official site lists massage rooms and hammams temporarily closed.

  • Fees and surprises: No alcohol served; check breakfast inclusion, city tax and any indoor-pool access charges before booking.
