Axel's take: 8.7/10

Warm service and comfortable rooms make this a strong alternative to the medina. A small, riad-style boutique hotel with a pool and spa in Agdal, scored for what it is.

Albakech is a small, riad-style boutique hotel in Agdal, not a sprawling resort or a medina hideaway. It’s a strong pick for travelers who want personal service and somewhere comfortable to unwind between outings. Booking.com, Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, thorough housekeeping, comfortable beds and generous, table-served breakfasts. The garden pool and hammam add appeal without turning this into a full-scale resort.

The trade-off is location: Al Mazar mall is nearby, but plan on taxis for the souks and Jemaa el-Fnaa. There’s no elevator, and some guests mention aircraft noise. Management confirmed renovation work in February 2026; later reviews still mention a forthcoming rooftop, so check the current work schedule before booking. We’d skip it if walking straight into the old city or guaranteed daytime quiet matters most.

• Best for: Couples wanting a smaller hotel; Travelers who value personal service; Sightseeing with pool and spa breaks

• Watch out for: Taxis needed for the medina; No elevator; occasional aircraft noise; Confirm renovation and rooftop work status

• Location: Agdal, near Al Mazar mall; convenient for supplies, less convenient for exploring the old city on foot.

• Rooms: Moroccan-style rooms and suites draw praise for comfort; some offer balconies or pool views.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across guest-review sites, with particularly strong Booking.com cleanliness ratings.

• Service: Attentive, welcoming staff are the clearest recurring reason guests recommend it.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, restaurant, hammam and massages; breakfast is served rather than a large buffet.

• Fees and surprises: City tax and paid airport transfers apply; Booking.com lists a refundable damage deposit.
