#5 of 5 hotels in Boudhanath by Axel's take. Boudhanath is #5 of 8 places to stay in Kathmandu. The best hotels in Boudhanath, ranked · Where to stay in Kathmandu

Axel's take: 5.7/10

Convenient for Boudhanath, but inconsistent rooms and booking disputes make this a cautious choice. a basic budget guesthouse with private rooms and shared sleeping options in Boudhha, scored for what it is.

Sudha’s Garden Home is a basic budget guesthouse, not a conventional full-service 3-star hotel. Its strongest draw is being within walking distance of Boudhanath, with a garden and terrace for downtime. Tripadvisor guests praise spacious rooms and welcoming hosts, and some 2025 guests describe clean, comfortable stays. But Booking.com’s 5.2 overall rating makes this hard to recommend confidently, even for a simple stay.

The concerns go beyond modest furnishings. Reviews published on Planet of Hotels repeatedly describe room substitutions and payment disputes; two guests in late 2025 and 2026 report curtain-separated sleeping spaces rather than proper dorm rooms. Cleanliness feedback is divided, and noise and unreliable Wi-Fi also feature. A March 2026 guest reported the advertised bar was not operating; confirm its status. We’d skip it for dependable comfort or privacy; otherwise, confirm the exact room, bathroom and total charge before arrival.

  • Best for: flexible budget travelers visiting Boudhanath; travelers comfortable inspecting rooms before committing

  • Watch out for: room substitutions and curtain-separated sleeping spaces; inconsistent cleanliness and noise; payment disputes and uncertain bar availability

  • Location: Within walking distance of Boudhanath and monasteries, though some guests report substantial road and school noise.

  • Rooms: Private and shared-bathroom options; recent shared-sleeping reviews raise concerns about privacy and room accuracy.

  • Cleanliness: Some guests praise clean rooms, while others describe dirty bathrooms and worn or unclean bedding.

  • Service: Warm hospitality earns praise, but check-in handling and payment disputes recur in negative reviews.

  • Amenities: Garden, terrace and Wi-Fi are listed; Wi-Fi feedback is weak, and a March 2026 guest reported the bar closed.

  • Fees and surprises: Expedia lists breakfast and airport transfers as extra; confirm arrival arrangements, inclusions and the total charge in writing.
