#3 of 9 hotels in Lazimpat by Axel's take. Lazimpat is #4 of 8 places to stay in Kathmandu. The best hotels in Lazimpat, ranked · Where to stay in Kathmandu

Axel's take: 8.8/10

Warm service and good food make this a strong alternative to staying in Thamel. a modern boutique hotel in Lazimpat, rather than Thamel, scored for what it is.

Nomad is a modern boutique hotel in Lazimpat, not on Thamel Marg as the catalog suggests. It's a strong pick for travelers who want restaurants nearby without staying in Thamel itself. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests consistently praise the helpful staff, comfortable beds and breakfast; the Italian restaurant also gets enthusiastic mentions. We'd choose it for personal service and everyday comfort rather than big-hotel facilities.

The trade-offs are worth knowing: there's no pool or gym, and Thamel is roughly a 15-minute walk away. Some recent Booking.com guests report uneven housekeeping or bathroom upkeep, although cleanliness ratings remain strong overall. Guests also mention kitchen-extractor noise in rooms near the lift, so light sleepers should request another position. We'd skip it if extensive facilities or nightlife immediately outside matter most.

  • Best for: couples wanting a quieter city base; travelers who prioritize helpful staff; pre- and post-trek stays

  • Watch out for: Lazimpat location, not Thamel Marg; kitchen-extractor noise near the lift; no pool or gym

  • Location: Kumari Mai Marg, Lazimpat; guests describe a quieter setting about 15 minutes' walk from Thamel.

  • Rooms: Comfortable, modern rooms; some smaller categories have limited storage, and rooms near the lift can hear the kitchen fan.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall ratings, tempered by several recent complaints about housekeeping detail and bathroom upkeep.

  • Service: The clearest strength: warm, responsive staff earn consistent praise across sites.

  • Amenities: Café, Italian restaurant, outdoor seating, free Wi-Fi and parking; no pool or fitness center.

  • Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusion; Expedia lists a bank-transfer deposit requirement and charges for early check-in or late checkout.
