Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong pick for extra space and longer stays, with some hallway wear. A practical 3-star extended-stay hotel with full-kitchen suites, scored for what it is.

Sonesta ES Suites Fresno is a practical 3-star extended-stay hotel, and we'd choose it for usable space rather than polished surroundings. Full kitchens make the suites genuinely useful for families and longer work trips. Tripadvisor and Booking.com guests praise the roomy layouts and cleanliness; recent Expedia reviews reinforce the friendly-service theme and give the included breakfast unusually strong marks. An outdoor pool, gym and guest laundry round out the essentials.

The main compromise is upkeep outside the suites: several recent Expedia guests mention dirty or worn hallway carpets, even while finding their rooms clean and comfortable. Parking is covered by a destination fee, despite free-parking language elsewhere on Sonesta's website; security deposits and pet fees also deserve attention. We'd skip it if fresh-looking common areas matter more than apartment-style practicality.

• Best for: Families needing room to spread out; Extended work stays; Travelers who want to cook

• Watch out for: Worn or inconsistently cleaned hallway carpets; Destination fee and security deposit; Additional pet fees

• Location: North-central Fresno near Highway 41, with shopping and restaurants nearby; best suited to drivers.

• Rooms: Spacious, apartment-style suites with full kitchens; layouts vary by category.

• Cleanliness: Room cleanliness earns strong praise, but recent guests flag hallway carpets and occasional common-area litter.

• Service: Friendly, accommodating staff are a consistent strength across guest-review sites.

• Amenities: Included breakfast and Wi-Fi, outdoor pool, fitness center and guest laundry.

• Fees and surprises: Sonesta says parking is included in a destination fee; a security deposit and pet fees also apply.
