Axel's take: 7.8/10

A practical Clovis base with friendly staff, roomy suites and some uneven upkeep. a budget all-suite chain hotel near Old Town Clovis, scored for what it is.

Comfort Suites Clovis–Fresno is a budget all-suite chain hotel whose strongest selling points are space and convenience. We'd pick it for family visits or a straightforward overnight near Old Town Clovis, with restaurants within walking distance. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, comfortable beds and hot breakfast. Free parking, microwaves and refrigerators make it a useful, good-value base rather than somewhere to splurge.

The catch is inconsistent room condition. Most recent accounts describe clean, comfortable stays, but Expedia and Tripadvisor also carry reports of musty or smoky smells and dirty or worn furnishings. The suites are generally single rooms, not separate-bedroom apartments, and the small outdoor pool is beside the parking area. We'd skip it if fresh interiors, reliably spotless upholstery or a pool-focused stay are priorities.

• Best for: families visiting Clovis; budget-conscious overnight stays; travelers exploring Old Town

• Watch out for: occasional room odors and worn furnishings; single-room suites, not separate bedrooms; small parking-area pool

• Location: Walkable to Old Town Clovis dining and shops, with convenient Highway 168 access.

• Rooms: Spacious single-room suites with microwaves and refrigerators; guests often praise the beds, but upkeep varies.

• Cleanliness: Recent feedback is mostly positive, with recurring exceptions involving odors and dirty upholstery or carpets.

• Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk staff are the most consistent strength in recent guest feedback.

• Amenities: Free hot breakfast, Wi-Fi and parking, plus a gym and outdoor pool; Choice describes the pool as seasonal.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists an area-shuttle surcharge; confirm availability directly rather than assuming airport transfers are included.
