Axel's take: 7.1/10

A practical budget stop, but room condition and parking-lot noise remain trade-offs. a basic 2-star, motel-style hotel near Highway 41, scored for what it is.

Quality Inn Fresno Near University is a basic, motel-style 2-star that makes most sense for a short stay with a car. Highway 41 access, free parking and rooms with microwaves and refrigerators cover the practical essentials. Recent Expedia guests frequently praise helpful staff and clean, comfortable rooms; some also describe refreshed flooring. We'd consider it for a straightforward overnight rather than a hotel-centered trip.

Consistency is the catch. Across guest-review sites, reports of worn furnishings, room odors and maintenance problems temper the positive feedback. Parking-lot activity can disturb sleep, and the included continental breakfast is modest. Despite lingering pool listings elsewhere, current booking information says there is no pool. We'd skip it if you're sensitive to noise or expect reliably updated rooms.

• Best for: budget travelers with a car; short Fresno stays; travelers prioritizing freeway access

• Watch out for: uneven room maintenance and freshness; parking-lot noise; no pool despite some older listings

• Location: Convenient for Highway 41 and driving to Fresno State; not a campus-adjacent stay.

• Rooms: Microwaves and refrigerators are useful; updates coexist with worn furnishings and maintenance complaints.

• Cleanliness: Many recent guests report clean rooms, but odors and inconsistent cleaning remain concerns.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength, though problem handling is not uniformly praised.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, parking and continental breakfast; current booking information confirms no pool.

• Fees and surprises: A per-stay deposit is listed; confirm current terms before arrival.
