#9 of 9 hotels in Ormond Beach Oceanfront by Axel's take. Ormond Beach Oceanfront is #6 of 6 places to stay in Daytona Beach. The best hotels in Ormond Beach Oceanfront, ranked · Where to stay in Daytona Beach

Axel's take: 6.5/10

The beach is the draw; uneven upkeep is the compromise. a no-frills beachfront budget motel in Ormond Beach, scored for what it is.

Driftwood is an older, no-frills beachfront budget motel in Ormond Beach, best considered for a short stay where sand matters more than polish. Direct beach access, an oceanfront pool and kitchenette options give it practical appeal. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the views, and many describe comfortable beds and helpful staff. We'd consider it for a budget beach break, but not as a reliably comfortable all-rounder.

The trade-offs go beyond dated decor: reviews across sites describe uneven cleaning, musty smells and maintenance problems, alongside plenty of satisfactory stays. Parking is repeatedly called tight, and upper floors require stairs. Service also varies when something needs fixing. We'd skip it if consistent housekeeping, fresh interiors or step-free access are priorities; otherwise, confirm the exact room type and parking arrangements before committing.

  • Best for: budget-minded beachgoers; short, no-frills coastal stays; travelers wanting a kitchenette

  • Watch out for: uneven cleanliness and maintenance; limited parking; no elevator

  • Location: Directly on Ormond Beach; ocean views and easy beach access are its strongest assets.

  • Rooms: Older, variably maintained rooms; kitchenette and oceanfront categories are available.

  • Cleanliness: Many guests report clean rooms, but recurring odor and housekeeping complaints undermine consistency.

  • Service: Often friendly and helpful, though complaint handling and after-hours responsiveness receive mixed feedback.

  • Amenities: Outdoor oceanfront pool, free Wi-Fi, grills and laundry; expect basic motel facilities.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking is free but limited; a deposit and pet charges apply, and Booking.com lists a nightly resort fee.
