Axel's take on Ormond Beach Oceanfront: #6 of 6 in Daytona Beach, 5.2/10
A slower oceanfront stay with worthwhile dining and town life around Granada. Appealing town character and Granada dining reward a slower stay, but limited doorstep choices, weaker value and distance from central attractions cost it.
Ormond's oceanfront offers a slower beach stay with local town life nearby. Granada Boulevard is the key: its shops and restaurants lead inland toward The Casements and the riverfront, with more dining across the bridge. Stay near Granada if you want some evenings on foot rather than driving for every meal.
Addresses farther down A1A are beach bases first and town bases second. The Boardwalk, Ocean Center and Speedway are separate outings, not doorstep attractions. Choose Ormond for couples, food-focused evenings and a quieter pace; skip it if central Daytona entertainment is the reason you are coming.
- Best for: couples, food lovers, museums and culture, shopping
- Skip it if: You want central Daytona attractions on foot; You expect every oceanfront address to be near Granada
- Getting around: Beach walks are easy; Granada's dining is walkable from nearby addresses; VoTran 19 serves A1A south of Granada and Granada Boulevard, with 70 at night; DAB requires 18 then 19 or a taxi; MCO/SFB require shuttle or car transfers.
- After dark: Dining and live-music pockets keep Granada active, while the broader oceanfront suits quieter evenings rather than late club-hopping.
- Rates: Typical Axel rate $140 a night · usually 10% under the public rate

- Tropic Sun Towers 8.5/10, mid-range beachfront timeshare condo resort in Ormond Beach. A strong beachfront choice for kitchen-equipped condos, with some older-building compromises. Why it's here: one- and two-bedroom beachfront condos with full kitchens and helpful staff. Accept: uneven bathroom updates, slow elevators and early checkout.
- Royal Floridian Resort 8.4/10, beachfront 3-star condo and timeshare resort in Ormond Beach. A strong family beach base with clean condos, plenty to do, and parking headaches. Why it's here: cheaper family condos with indoor and outdoor pools, activities and walkable dining. Accept: parking pressure, event noise and extra housekeeping charges.
- Dolphin Beach Club 8.3/10, small beachfront timeshare resort with self-catering apartments. A strong beachfront pick for self-catering stays, not four-star hotel service. Why it's here: clean self-catering apartments with refreshed furnishings in Daytona Beach Shores, not Ormond. Accept: limited reception, modest service and one parking space per unit.
- Hilton Garden Inn Daytona Beach Oceanfront 8.0/10, mid-range 3-star beachfront hotel north of Daytona's main attractions. Friendly staff and beachfront convenience, but check facility closures before booking. Why it's here: a beachfront north Daytona base opposite Bellair Plaza, with helpful staff. Accept: pool closure October 19–November 1, 2026; hot tub also closed.
- Grand Seas MOD Collection by Sonesta 7.9/10, mid-range beachfront condo-style resort. A good family beach base, with practical kitchens and a few service trade-offs. - The Maverick Resort 7.7/10, simple 3-star oceanfront timeshare and condo resort. Good beachfront value, but uneven service keeps this condo resort from being an easy recommendation. Why it's here: oceanfront condos with cooking facilities and free parking for independent beach stays. Accept: unreliable elevators, inconsistent housekeeping and reservation handling.
- Hilton Vacation Club The Cove on Ormond Beach 7.5/10, 3-star beachfront condo-style vacation resort. Spacious beachfront suites work well for self-catering, but renovations currently compromise the resort experience. Why it's here: spacious kitchen-equipped accommodation with ocean-view balconies and walkable restaurants. Accept: renovations, outdoor-pool closure and beach-access detours.
- Spark by Hilton Ormond Beach Oceanfront 6.8/10, no-frills 3-star beachfront hotel in Ormond Beach. Beachfront value with uneven upkeep—and reopening details worth checking before booking. Why it's here: simple Ormond beachfront rooms with breakfast included. Accept: reopening remains unverified; upkeep and communication are uneven.
- Driftwood Beach Motel 6.5/10, no-frills beachfront budget motel in Ormond Beach. The beach is the draw; uneven upkeep is the compromise.
