Axel's take: 8.5/10

A stylish, welcoming city base, but small rooms and current renovations need weighing. a design-led 4-star boutique hotel beside Copenhagen Central Station, scored for what it is.

NH Copenhagen Grand Joanne is a design-led 4-star boutique hotel in Vesterbro, a short walk from Central Station and Tivoli. It's a strong pick for a Copenhagen city break: recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise welcoming staff, clean rooms, comfortable beds and breakfast. The Scandinavian interiors give it more personality than a standard chain hotel, while the restaurant, courtyard and seasonal rooftop bar make the shared spaces worth using.

The main compromise is space. Guests across several sites describe small bedrooms and limited luggage storage, so we'd choose a larger category for two people with suitcases. More importantly, Expedia lists renovations to selected guestrooms from September 6, 2026, through March 31, 2027, with work during weekday business hours. Confirm your room's proximity to the work; we'd skip it for a quiet daytime retreat until disruption is clarified.

• Best for: couples on short city breaks; travelers arriving by train; design-minded travelers packing light

• Watch out for: selected guestrooms under renovation through March 31, 2027; compact rooms and limited luggage storage; seasonal rooftop bar

• Location: Excellent for Central Station, Tivoli and exploring Vesterbro on foot.

• Rooms: Stylish and comfortable, but entry-level categories can feel cramped for two.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, with recent guests repeatedly praising clean rooms.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff are a consistent strength across review sites.

• Amenities: Italian restaurant, courtyard, seasonal rooftop bar, 24-hour gym and yoga room.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is paid and off-site; breakfast depends on your booking; confirm renovation disruption.
