Axel's take: 7.9/10

A practical central base with refreshed rooms, but some cramped bathrooms and housekeeping caveats. a renovated 4-star city hotel beside Vesterport station, scored for what it is.

Imperial is a renovated 4-star city hotel whose strongest selling point is convenience: Vesterport station is opposite, with Tivoli and Central Station an easy walk away. We'd pick it for a straightforward Copenhagen sightseeing stay rather than a luxury escape. The hotel says its rooms were renovated in 2025, and recent Expedia and Booking.com guests commonly praise cleanliness, comfortable beds and helpful staff. Breakfast and the Italian restaurant also earn good feedback.

The refresh hasn't removed every compromise. Several recent Tripadvisor guests describe small, awkward bathrooms, sometimes with showers over tight bathtubs. Housekeeping is on request, so arrange it the evening before; some guests report missed cleaning. Breakfast can get crowded with tour groups, and it isn't included in every booking. We'd skip it if spacious bathrooms and automatic daily servicing are priorities.

• Best for: first-time Copenhagen sightseers; travelers arriving by train; short city breaks

• Watch out for: small bathrooms in some rooms; housekeeping must be requested; busy breakfast periods

• Location: Opposite Vesterport station, within easy walking distance of Tivoli and Central Station.

• Rooms: Renovated in 2025; standard doubles are compact, and some bathrooms remain awkwardly configured.

• Cleanliness: Generally praised across Booking.com and Expedia, with occasional housekeeping lapses reported on Tripadvisor.

• Service: Helpful reception staff are a recurring strength; requested cleaning can be less consistent.

• Amenities: Italian restaurant and bar, breakfast buffet, gym, free Wi-Fi and paid bicycle rental.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast may cost extra; parking is paid and the hotel directs drivers to nearby Steel House Copenhagen.
