Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong city-break base if you can live out of a small room. a design-led 4-star city hotel with compact rooms, scored for what it is.

citizenM Copenhagen Radhuspladsen is a design-led 4-star that puts location and comfortable sleep ahead of bedroom space. It's a strong pick for a short Copenhagen visit: Tivoli, Strøget and the metro are close, while the seventh-floor lounge offers somewhere appealing to spread out. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, cleanliness and big beds; tablet-controlled blinds and lighting add convenience rather than traditional luxury.

The trade-off is substantial: standard rooms are around 14 square metres, with limited luggage space and a bed enclosed on three sides, so sharing can mean climbing over your partner. Recent Tripadvisor reviews also flag uneven housekeeping, though the overall cleanliness picture remains positive. Confirm cleaning arrangements on arrival; Expedia lists it as on request. We'd skip it for a spacious, full-service stay, and check the exact room layout carefully if mobility is a concern.

• Best for: solo city-break travelers; couples traveling light; sightseeing with easy metro access

• Watch out for: tiny rooms and limited luggage space; bed access awkward for two; confirm housekeeping arrangements

• Location: By City Hall Square, with Tivoli, Strøget and Rådhuspladsen metro a short walk away.

• Rooms: Compact, roughly 14-square-metre rooms with XL king beds, blackout blinds and tablet controls.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall ratings, but several recent Tripadvisor guests report missed or incomplete cleaning.

• Service: Helpful staff are a recurring strength; check-in is self-service with staff assistance.

• Amenities: Seventh-floor lounge, 24-hour canteenM bar-restaurant, Wi-Fi and meeting rooms.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast costs extra unless included; no on-site parking; official and Expedia housekeeping listings differ.
