Axel's take: 4.2/10

The Lakewood location cannot make up for recurring cleanliness and maintenance failures. a basic 2-star motel in Lakewood’s Gold Coast district, scored for what it is.

This basic 2-star motel has a useful Lakewood location near Lake Erie, with free parking and a short drive into downtown Cleveland. But even against budget-motel expectations, it falls short. Expedia’s overall rating is poor, and recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly describe dirty rooms, missing towels and broken fixtures. Some guests praise friendly staff or find their room adequate, but those positives do not outweigh the recurring failures.

The main concern is unreliable basics, not dated decor: reports include stained bedding, poorly cleaned bathrooms and malfunctioning heating or plumbing. Breakfast is advertised, but guests describe limited supplies or no service. There is no elevator. We’d skip it for families, longer stays or anyone expecting dependable cleanliness.

• Best for: Travelers prioritizing the Lakewood location; Drivers needing free parking

• Watch out for: Recurring dirty-room and missing-linen reports; Broken fixtures and unreliable room equipment; No elevator; breakfast availability inconsistent

• Location: Gold Coast location near Lake Erie and Edgewater Park; downtown Cleveland is a short drive away.

• Rooms: Basic and inconsistently maintained, with repeated reports of broken lights, TVs and heating.

• Cleanliness: Recent reviews repeatedly flag dirty carpets, stained bedding and poorly cleaned bathrooms.

• Service: Some staff earn praise, but missing towels and unresolved requests recur across sites.

• Amenities: Free parking, breakfast and Wi-Fi are advertised; guests report unreliable breakfast and connectivity.

• Fees and surprises: Early check-in and late checkout can cost extra; upper-floor rooms require stairs.
