Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong theater-district pick, with welcoming staff and parking costs to factor in. a full-service mid-range hotel in Cleveland’s theater district, scored for what it is.

This full-service mid-range Crowne Plaza is a strong pick for a Cleveland theater weekend or ballgame trip. Its biggest asset is the location: Playhouse Square’s theaters are close by, and guests repeatedly praise the walk to Progressive Field. Tripadvisor and Expedia reviews also agree on the fundamentals—clean, spacious rooms and particularly helpful staff. Playhouse Square confirms a renovation was completed in 2025, strengthening the case for choosing it over an older, more basic downtown option.

The trade-offs are mostly practical. Valet parking carries a substantial extra charge; self-parking means using a separate garage. Breakfast is not automatically included, and recent Expedia feedback on its quality is mixed. The indoor pool and gym are useful extras, but we’d choose this for convenient downtown access rather than a resort-style stay. Skip it if free parking and an included breakfast are priorities.

• Best for: theater weekends; baseball and downtown event trips; travelers who value helpful staff

• Watch out for: Substantial valet parking charge; Breakfast inclusion depends on booking; Mixed breakfast feedback

• Location: Close to Playhouse Square theaters, with guests praising walkable access to Progressive Field.

• Rooms: Recent guests commonly describe spacious, comfortable rooms; a renovation was completed in 2025.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Tripadvisor and recent Expedia feedback.

• Service: Warm, helpful front-desk staff are a recurring highlight across review sites.

• Amenities: Indoor pool, fitness center, free Wi-Fi, and Brel’s restaurant and bar.

• Fees and surprises: Valet parking costs extra; self-parking is off-site, and breakfast is not included with every booking.
