Axel's take: 8.0/10

A solid Cleveland base for drivers, with friendly service but some uneven room upkeep. a practical 3-star suburban business hotel near I-77 and I-480, scored for what it is.

This 3-star Courtyard in suburban Independence is a strong pick for business trips and Cleveland visits with a car. Expedia and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff; recent Expedia reviews are particularly positive about check-in and service. The indoor pool, gym and Bistro cover the essentials without making this more than a straightforward mid-range stay.

The caveat is consistency: some 2026 guests on Tripadvisor and Hotels.com report missed cleaning, musty rooms or maintenance problems, although the broader ratings remain favorable. Breakfast costs extra, and Marriott now lists a per-stay parking charge. The whirlpool/spa permanently closed in August 2026; Marriott says the indoor pool remains open. We'd skip it for a car-free city break or if reliably fresh room condition matters more than highway convenience.

• Best for: business travelers with a car; Cleveland sightseeing by car; short suburban stays

• Watch out for: uneven room cleaning and maintenance; breakfast and parking cost extra; whirlpool/spa permanently closed

• Location: Convenient highway access in Independence; better suited to drivers than a walkable Cleveland city break.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and good space earn praise, but recent guests also flag mustiness and maintenance faults.

• Cleanliness: Positive overall, including Expedia's strong cleanliness rating, but recent misses appear on multiple sites.

• Service: Helpful, friendly staff are a recurring strength, despite occasional poor interactions.

• Amenities: Indoor pool, fitness center and Bistro; Marriott confirms the whirlpool/spa is permanently closed.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast is not complimentary; Marriott lists a per-stay parking fee and housekeeping every other day.
