Axel's take: 8.7/10
A strong sightseeing base with standout staff, though light sleepers should choose carefully. a design-led 3-star in Barcelona’s Eixample, scored for what it is.
Soho is a design-led 3-star on Gran Via that gets the city-break essentials right: a convenient Eixample location near Urgell metro, comfortable rooms and genuinely helpful reception staff. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcome and cleanliness, backed by strong overall ratings on both sites and Booking.com. We’d pick it for exploring Barcelona rather than spending whole days at the hotel; the small rooftop pool is a welcome extra between outings.
The trade-offs are mostly practical. Some guests find the rooms dark, and street or courtyard noise crops up repeatedly, although others report good soundproofing. The pool has limited lounging space, and the hotel restricts swimming from November through March. It’s a strong choice for couples and first-time visitors, but we’d look elsewhere if guaranteed quiet or a substantial pool is essential.
-
Best for: couples on a city break; first-time Barcelona visitors; travelers using public transport
-
Watch out for: variable street and courtyard noise; dark room lighting; small seasonal rooftop pool
-
Location: Near Urgell metro, with cafés nearby and Plaça de Catalunya within walking distance.
-
Rooms: Comfortable, contemporary rooms; dim lighting and variable noise are the main caveats.
-
Cleanliness: Consistently strong guest feedback across Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor.
-
Service: Helpful, welcoming reception staff are the clearest recurring strength.
-
Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, buffet breakfast and a small outdoor rooftop pool; swimming restricted November–March.
-
Fees and surprises: Budget for city tax, paid public parking and breakfast unless included; Expedia also lists a damage deposit.
