Hotels in Barcelonaa simple 1-star hotel in El Born, opposite Ciutadella Park
7.8/10
A well-located Barcelona base with comfortable beds, modest rooms and a few rough edges.
Chic&Basic Zoo is a simple 1-star hotel occupying one floor of a classic building opposite Ciutadella Park. It's a good pick for exploring El Born without paying for facilities you won't use. Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the location, helpful staff and comfortable beds; cleanliness is generally well regarded. Free coffee, tea and water in the shared area are useful extras.
The basics are stronger than the finish: smaller rooms can feel tight, and several guests mention tired bathroom fittings or cosmetic wear. Some report traffic noise, and rooms lack mini-fridges. Check-in and breakfast are around the corner at sister hotel chic&basic Born, not in this building. We'd choose it for a short sightseeing stay, but skip it if you want spacious rooms, polished interiors or reception under the same roof.
