Axel's take: 8.8/10
Old-school Charleston luxury with a standout location and a few restrictive policies. a traditional luxury boutique hotel beside Charleston City Market, scored for what it is.
Market Pavilion is a traditional luxury boutique hotel beside Charleston City Market, and it's a strong pick for exploring downtown on foot. Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise comfortable rooms, cleanliness and helpful staff. Marble bathrooms, morning coffee and pastries on each floor, Grill 225 downstairs and the rooftop bar give it more personality than a standard upscale hotel. We'd choose it for a classic Charleston weekend rather than contemporary design.
The rooftop pool comes with a catch: swimming ends at 5 p.m., and the bar has a strict dress code. Paid valet parking and extra-person charges also deserve attention before booking. Although service feedback is overwhelmingly positive, several recent guests describe delayed check-in or uneven front-desk handling. We'd skip it if evening swims, casual rooftop lounging or consistently seamless luxury service are priorities.
