7.3/10
Come for the river views and downtown shuttle, not polished rooms.
This older 3-star riverfront tower is a good Charleston base if views and a downtown shuttle matter more than fresh interiors. The top-floor Harborview restaurant gives it something most mid-range chains lack, while the seasonal pool and gym cover the basics. Tripadvisor and Agoda guests repeatedly praise welcoming staff, comfortable beds and the shuttle; Booking.com’s overall feedback is positive but not outstanding.
The trade-off is uneven upkeep. Recent reviews across sites describe dated bathrooms, worn finishes and occasional cleaning misses, despite plenty of clean-room reports. Traffic noise can also intrude, and this is not a walk-out-the-door historic-district location. Confirm parking charges and shuttle hours: IHG’s own pages disagree. We’d consider it for practical sightseeing, but skip it for consistently modern rooms or an entirely walkable Charleston stay.

Best for: sightseers happy using a shuttle; couples who prioritize river views; travelers comfortable with an older hotel
Watch out for: dated bathrooms and uneven upkeep; traffic noise in some rooms; conflicting parking and shuttle information
Location: Across the Ashley River from historic downtown; plan on the shuttle or driving.
Rooms: Comfortable beds and scenic-view options, but recurring complaints about aging bathrooms and finishes.
Cleanliness: Generally positive overall, with enough recent cleaning complaints to flag inconsistency.
Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength, though problem handling is not uniformly praised.
Amenities: Top-floor restaurant and lounge, seasonal outdoor pool, gym and complimentary downtown shuttle.
Fees and surprises: Breakfast is not universally included; confirm parking charges and shuttle hours because official pages conflict.
