Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong downtown base for comfort and convenience, with parking and noise caveats. A straightforward downtown chain hotel with suites and free breakfast, scored for what it is.

This straightforward Hampton is a strong pick for a Buffalo city break: practical rather than fancy, with comfortable rooms and a useful downtown location. Expedia and Booking.com guests consistently praise cleanliness, helpful staff and breakfast, while Tripadvisor reviewers highlight roomy accommodations. Free hot breakfast, an indoor pool and nearby restaurants make it especially convenient for families and short stays.

The main catch is parking: Hilton confirms it costs extra, spaces are limited and availability is not guaranteed. Recent guests also report late-night street noise, so light sleepers should request a quieter room. Some Tripadvisor feedback mentions worn room finishes, though the broader cleanliness picture remains positive. We'd choose it for an easy downtown base, but skip it for polished interiors or reliably quiet nights.

• Best for: Families wanting breakfast and a pool; Downtown sightseeing and theater trips; Travelers who prefer familiar chain comfort

• Watch out for: Paid parking with limited, unguaranteed spaces; Late-night street noise; Some worn room finishes

• Location: Downtown entertainment district, with restaurants nearby and Metro Rail two blocks away.

• Rooms: Guests praise space and comfort; some report worn finishes and nighttime noise.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback across Expedia and Booking.com, despite occasional individual complaints.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength across guest-review sites.

• Amenities: Free hot breakfast and Wi-Fi, indoor pool, fitness center and connecting-room options.

• Fees and surprises: Parking costs extra and is not guaranteed; pets incur a fee, and no airport shuttle is offered.
