#7 of 9 hotels in Gare du Midi & Saint-Gilles by Axel's take. Gare du Midi & Saint-Gilles is #8 of 9 places to stay in Brussels. The best hotels in Gare du Midi & Saint-Gilles, ranked · Where to stay in Brussels

Axel's take: 7.8/10

A practical train-stop hotel, but the surrounding streets are the compromise. a no-frills 3-star opposite Brussels Midi station, scored for what it is.

This no-frills 3-star opposite Brussels Midi is a good pick for an early Eurostar or a short stop between trains. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the spacious, generally clean rooms and helpful staff; recent Accor reviews broadly agree. Comfortable beds, a bar serving simple meals and a well-liked breakfast cover the essentials without much fuss. We'd choose it for railway convenience rather than a characterful Brussels stay.

The biggest drawback is outside: guests across several sites describe the surrounding streets as unwelcoming after dark, and street-facing rooms can catch nighttime noise. Room decor and some bathrooms also show wear. Ask for an inward-facing room, and remember that luggage storage costs extra. We'd skip it for a romantic break or if relaxed evening walks around the hotel are a priority.

  • Best for: Eurostar arrivals and early departures; Short stays between trains; Travelers prioritizing practical basics

  • Watch out for: Surrounding streets can feel uncomfortable after dark; Nighttime noise in street-facing rooms; Paid luggage storage

  • Location: Opposite Midi station; Grand Place is roughly a 20–30-minute walk, with metro connections nearby.

  • Rooms: Spacious for a simple city hotel, with comfortable beds; decor and bathroom fittings can look tired.

  • Cleanliness: Mostly positive across recent reviews, with occasional bathroom and maintenance lapses.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful reception and bar staff are recurring strengths.

  • Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, 24-hour reception, a bar with light meals and a breakfast buffet.

  • Fees and surprises: Luggage storage is chargeable; breakfast costs extra unless included in your booking.
