Axel's take: 9.0/10

Grand Brussels luxury with an excellent spa, slightly removed from the tourist bustle. a restored Belle Époque five-star hotel on Rue Royale, scored for what it is.

This restored Belle Époque five-star reopened in December 2024, and it's a strong pick for a Brussels break built around comfort rather than sightseeing alone. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the immaculate rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff. The spa, indoor pool and well-equipped gym stand out even at this level; the historic interiors give it more character than a conventional business hotel.

The compromise is location: Grand Place is roughly a 15–20-minute walk away, rather than outside the door. Breakfast wins plenty of praise, but some guests question its value, and occasional dining-service slips keep the experience from feeling uniformly polished. Breakfast and valet parking can cost extra. We'd choose it for a leisurely couples' escape; skip it if doorstep sightseeing matters more than the hotel itself.

  • Best for: couples seeking a luxury city break; spa and wellness travelers; lovers of historic grand hotels

  • Watch out for: 15–20-minute walk to Grand Place; occasional dining-service inconsistencies; breakfast and valet parking may cost extra

  • Location: Rue Royale offers some distance from the tourist crowds, with Grand Place roughly 15–20 minutes away on foot.

  • Rooms: Restored interiors pair historic character with modern comfort; guests repeatedly praise room condition and beds.

  • Cleanliness: A clear strength across Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor guest feedback.

  • Service: Staff and concierge earn strong praise overall, with occasional breakfast and restaurant-service lapses.

  • Amenities: A substantial spa, indoor pool, thermal facilities, gym, restaurants and cocktail bar support its luxury credentials.

  • Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusions; valet parking, airport transfers and spa treatments carry additional charges.
