Axel's take: 8.6/10

A strong airport stopover, with comfortable rooms and useful extras. a comfortable 4-star airport hotel in El Prat, scored for what it is.

Sallés Ciutat del Prat is a comfortable 4-star airport hotel, and we'd pick it for a night before flying rather than a Barcelona sightseeing break. Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor guests consistently praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff. The free airport shuttle is the main draw, but the well-liked breakfast and restaurant make it more than somewhere to sleep between flights.

The trade-off is location: you're in El Prat, with neighborhood restaurants nearby, not central Barcelona; the station is roughly a 12-minute walk away. Check the shuttle pickup directions and reserve your return seat—the service runs half-hourly, not around the clock. The indoor pool, sauna and small gym are useful extras rather than a reason to book, and the rooftop bar is seasonal. We'd skip it if walking straight out to Barcelona's main sights matters most.

• Best for: overnight airport stopovers; early-flight travelers; business trips around El Prat

• Watch out for: Not in central Barcelona; Shuttle runs 4:30 a.m.–1:30 a.m.; reserve departure seats; Seasonal rooftop bar

• Location: Local dining nearby; approximately 12 minutes on foot to El Prat station.

• Rooms: Modern, comfortable rooms; beds and sleep quality draw repeated praise.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor reviews.

• Service: Friendly, helpful reception staff and generally well-organized airport transfers.

• Amenities: Indoor pool, sauna, small gym, restaurant and summer rooftop bar.

• Fees and surprises: City tax and parking cost extra; full buffet breakfast is not included with every booking.
