Polished city luxury with standout service, but compact leisure facilities. a contemporary 5-star boutique hotel in central Eixample, scored for what it is.

Almanac Barcelona is a contemporary 5-star boutique hotel near Passeig de Gràcia and Plaça de Catalunya, and a strong pick for a sightseeing-led luxury break. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise attentive staff, excellent cleanliness and comfortable, quiet rooms despite the central setting. The marble bathrooms and thoughtful design support its luxury credentials, while Azimuth’s rooftop terrace gives you a compelling reason to linger at the hotel.

The main compromise is scale: the rooftop pool is for dipping rather than swimming, and the small gym draws criticism across review sites. Room outlooks also differ; Gallery rooms face an inner courtyard, so book a street-facing category if views matter. We’d choose it for polished service and walkable sightseeing, but skip it if a substantial pool or extensive fitness facilities define your holiday.

• Best for: couples on a luxury city break; design-minded travelers; sightseeing and shopping on foot

• Watch out for: small rooftop plunge pool; compact gym; courtyard-facing rooms lack city views

• Location: Central Eixample base close to Passeig de Gràcia and Plaça de Catalunya.

• Rooms: Contemporary rooms with marble bathrooms; choose carefully between street and courtyard outlooks.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest reviews and booking-site category ratings.

• Service: Warm, attentive staff and helpful concierge service earn repeated praise.

• Amenities: Azimuth rooftop bar, small outdoor pool, Virens restaurant, gym and wellness facilities.

• Fees and surprises: City tax is collected at the property; parking costs extra, and breakfast inclusion depends on your booking.
