#7 of 9 hotels in Chalong by Axel's take. Chalong is #6 of 12 places to stay in Phuket. The best hotels in Chalong, ranked · Where to stay in Phuket

Axel's take: 7.8/10

Good-value comfort near the training gyms, but road noise is the catch. a family-run, budget 3-star in inland Chalong, scored for what it is.

Phaithong is a family-run, budget 3-star in inland Chalong, better suited to Muay Thai training trips than beach holidays. We'd consider it good value for its spacious rooms and helpful staff: Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise both, while Booking.com also scores service strongly. An outdoor pool, restaurant and communal kitchen make it practical for longer stays.

The main compromise is the busy road. Guests across several sites report traffic noise and uncomfortable walking conditions; some bungalow guests also mention noise from neighboring premises. Cleanliness feedback is mostly positive, though room-condition reports vary. We'd skip it for a peaceful beach escape or easy sightseeing on foot. Expedia also lists a cash deposit and card-payment surcharge, so check payment terms before arrival.

  • Best for: Muay Thai training trips; Budget travelers with transport; Longer stays with simple needs

  • Watch out for: Traffic and neighboring-premises noise; Busy road makes walking uncomfortable; Beaches require transport

  • Location: In Chalong near the Soi Ta-iad training area, not central Phuket Town or the beach.

  • Rooms: Spacious, simply furnished rooms and bungalows; condition and noise exposure vary.

  • Cleanliness: Mostly positive across sites, with occasional housekeeping and linen complaints.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are the most consistent strength.

  • Amenities: Outdoor pool, gym, restaurant, communal kitchen, free Wi-Fi and free parking.

  • Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a cash deposit and card surcharge; airport transfers and laundry cost extra.
