Stylish rooms and warm service, with busy-road compromises. a boutique 4-star just outside Cartagena’s walled city, scored for what it is.

Ermita is a boutique 4-star in Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio, just outside Cartagena’s walled city. It’s a strong pick for travelers who want character, comfortable rooms and a rooftop pool without staying amid the old town’s nightlife. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, cleanliness and breakfast; the Lebanese-Caribbean restaurant adds a reason to dine in. We’d choose it as a comfortable sightseeing base rather than a beach resort.

The main compromise is the setting: a busy coastal road separates the hotel from the beach, and the historic center is roughly a 10–15-minute walk away. Traffic and echoing hallways recur in reviews, so request a quieter, rear-facing room. We’d skip it if you’re a light sleeper or want restaurants and evening wandering immediately outside your door.

• Best for: couples mixing sightseeing and pool time; travelers who value attentive staff; Marriott Bonvoy members

• Watch out for: traffic and hallway noise; busy road between hotel and beach; outside the walled city

• Location: El Cabrero, roughly 10–15 minutes on foot from the historic center; busy road crossings detract.

• Rooms: Stylish rooms and comfortable beds earn praise; rear-facing rooms are a better bet for quiet.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent reviews, including strong Expedia cleanliness ratings.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff are a standout, though some guests report uneven problem handling.

• Amenities: Small rooftop pool, ocean-view bar, 24-hour gym and Lebanese-Caribbean dining; not a beachfront resort.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast may cost extra and pets incur a fee; confirm airport transfers because Marriott and Expedia disagree.
