Axel's take: 8.1/10

A characterful Getsemaní base, better for exploring than luxury or guaranteed quiet. a mid-range boutique hotel in a historic Getsemaní building, scored for what it is.

This is a mid-range boutique hotel, not the full luxury experience its name suggests—and it's a strong pick for exploring Cartagena on foot. The historic building and courtyards give it character, with Getsemaní's restaurants and the Walled City within walking distance. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, welcoming staff and comfortable beds; breakfast earns mostly positive feedback. The small rooftop pool is a useful cooling-off spot rather than somewhere to swim laps.

Room choice matters: guests on Tripadvisor and Expedia describe some rooms as cramped, while street and internal noise can interrupt sleep. Weak shower pressure also appears in several recent reports. Guests reported construction directly outside in March 2026; whether it continues is unconfirmed, so ask before booking. We'd choose it for location and character, but skip it for spacious rooms, resort facilities or dependable silence.

• Best for: couples exploring Cartagena on foot; travelers who prefer historic character; short city breaks

• Watch out for: compact rooms and variable noise; recurring weak shower pressure reports; confirm whether nearby construction has finished

• Location: Walkable Getsemaní location near restaurants and the Walled City; not beachfront.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and air conditioning, but some rooms are small and maintenance varies.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent Expedia feedback, also rated highly on Tripadvisor.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff receive frequent praise; complaint handling draws occasional criticism.

• Amenities: Breakfast, Wi-Fi, a small rooftop pool, hot tub and elevator; not a full-service resort.

• Fees and surprises: No on-site parking; early check-in and late checkout may cost extra. Confirm construction status.
