Axel's take: 7.4/10

A good beachfront family option if you can accept dated rooms and uneven dining. a modest, family-focused beachfront all-inclusive, scored for what it is.

Tesoro Ixtapa is a modest, family-focused all-inclusive on El Palmar Beach, best chosen for its setting and people rather than polished facilities. We'd consider it for an uncomplicated beach break with children. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the friendly staff, while the kids' club earns particularly warm feedback. Cleanliness generally gets better marks than the property's condition, and the beachfront location is its strongest selling point.

The compromises are real: recent guests describe aging bathrooms, worn furniture and competition for loungers when the hotel fills up. Food divides opinion, with complaints about variety and buffet temperature alongside enthusiastic praise. Don't assume Wi-Fi comes with the all-inclusive package; confirm your booking's inclusions. We'd skip it for a quiet couples' escape or if updated rooms and consistently good dining matter more than beach access.

Best for: families with younger children; beach-first travelers; travelers comfortable with a simple all-inclusive
Watch out for: dated rooms and maintenance issues; uneven buffet quality; limited loungers during busy periods
Location: Directly on El Palmar Beach; open-ocean conditions mean swimming is not always suitable.
Rooms: Room sizes earn praise, but aging bathrooms and worn furnishings recur in reviews.
Cleanliness: Generally praised, with housekeeping a stronger point than overall upkeep.
Service: Friendly staff and the kids' club stand out; busy-period bar waits get complaints.
Amenities: Outdoor and children's pools, two restaurants, beach activities and family entertainment.
Fees and surprises: Wi-Fi may cost extra; the official site advertises complimentary access as a rewards benefit. The supplied Barceló website belongs to a different hotel.
