Questions families ask
Are rooms advertised with two doubles actually two queens?
Not always. Surfside, Aventura, Portofino Bay, Magic Moment and the Alfond Inn have confirmed two-queen options, even when another description mentions doubles. Rosen Inn Lake Buena Vista genuinely has two full-size double beds. Book the named bed configuration, not just a room described as sleeping four, especially when two adults or older children will share a bed.
Can we add a crib or rollaway to a room for four?
Policies vary by room, not just by hotel. Surfside and Aventura offer free cribs on request but no rollaways in these categories. Cypress Harbour permits neither. Portofino Bay offers paid rollaways and Pack ’n Plays on request, with crib charges unspecified. Confirm availability and the permitted total occupancy before assuming an extra bed or crib will fit.
Does a room for four cost much more than a room for two?
Often the family configuration is close to the cheapest room for two at the same hotel; some cost the same or slightly less. Portofino Bay and Surfside show more noticeable differences. That comparison doesn't capture everything: parking, resort fees, breakfast and housekeeping can change the overall value. Compare the complete booking total and inclusions rather than room rates alone.
Which Orlando areas work best without a car?
For Universal-focused trips, Surfside's complimentary park shuttles and Aventura's park buses make transport straightforward. Portofino Bay adds walking and water-taxi access to Universal's original two parks. SeaWorld-area villas and Disney-area budget hotels are generally better with a car or rideshares. Winter Park suits walkable dining and local outings, rather than daily theme-park visits.
Is a two-bedroom villa still one accommodation, and do the children get separate beds?
The villas here are single bookable units with internal bedrooms, not connecting hotel rooms. Parkway International has two twins for the children; Sabal Palms has a double and a twin in its second bedroom. Cypress Harbour and Villatel instead have one queen in the second bedroom. Harbour Lake's one-bedroom villa puts the children together on a double sofa bed.
