Stay along Shaw Avenue for Fresno State visits and Bulldog games, not for a classic college-town main street. Fashion Fair sits toward Fresno Street; Cedar Avenue leads into campus, while Campus Pointe's restaurants and the Save Mart Center are farther east. Each pocket works better separately than as one continuous walking neighborhood.
- Best for
- sports fanstravelers on a budget
- Skip it if
- You want a continuous walkable neighborhood; You dislike game-day activity
- Getting around
- FAX 9 serves Shaw, 34 First Street and 38 Cedar; FAT needs a taxi or connecting buses; Campus Pointe also has Friday/Saturday evening FresnoHOP service to downtown and Tower.
- After dark
- Football nights bring pregame dining and tailgating; the atmosphere depends much more on the event calendar than on a continuous nightlife strip.
- Where to look

The campus-edge choice for university business; Fresno State's gateway is here, rather than beside the western Shaw shopping pocket.Blackstone Avenue near Bullard.
