Stay around Playa Norte and Centro for a beach holiday that works on foot: swimming, breakfast, dinner and the ferry are all part of the same compact town. Avenida Hidalgo supplies the main dining and entertainment spine, while snorkeling and diving trips offer a change from the sand. This is an island stay, not simply another mainland resort address.
- Best for
- familiescouplestravelers without a carsports fans
- Skip it if
- You plan frequent mainland outings; You want the simplest possible early-airport departure
- Getting around
- Walk Centro and Playa Norte; use taxis, bicycles or golf carts farther afield. From CUN, transfer to Puerto Juárez and take the passenger ferry.
- After dark
- Hidalgo remains social with restaurants and bars; visitors report much quieter nights on nearby streets away from that spine.
